Cheryl Rose Pelkey was born and raised in the Pacific
Northwest. Cheryl has been interested in art since she was a
small child. She majored in art during her high school and
college years. She studied oil and sumi painting in Japan
under a Japanese artist for two years. What emerged was her
own style of painting. Cheryl sold her paintings at arts and
crafts shows for ten years. During this time Cheryl met Fran
Gieseke, who came to her with a manuscript in need of an
illustrator. For Cheryl, illustrating this book was fun,
creative and challenging.
Today, Cheryl enjoys her days as a businesswoman in her greenhouse
company. She lives in West Puget Sound with John, her husband of
35 years. She has two enterprising sons, Erin and Briscoe.
